A preclinical murine model of hepatic metastases.

چکیده
Numerous murine models have been developed to study human cancers and advance the understanding of cancer treatment and development. Here, a preclinical, murine pancreatic tumor model of hepatic metastases via a hemispleen injection of syngeneic murine pancreatic tumor cells is described. This model mimics many of the clinical conditions in patients with metastatic disease to the liver. Mice consistently develop metastases in the liver allowing for investigation of the metastatic process, experimental therapy testing, and tumor immunology research.

Murine model of hepatic breast cancer
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in this population. Breast cancer related deaths have declined due to screening and adjuvant therapies, yet a driving clinical need exists to better understand the cause of the deadliest aspect of breast cancer, metastatic disease. Breast cancer metastasizes to several dist...
متن کامل[In-DTPA]octreotide Tumor Uptake in GEPNET Liver Metastases After Intra-Arterial Administration: An Overview of Preclinical and Clinical Observations and Implications for Tumor Radiation Dose After Peptide Radionuclide Therapy
Aims: With the aim to improve peptide receptor radionuclide therapy effects in patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (GEPNET) liver metastases we explored the effect of intra-arterial (IA) administration of [In-DTPA]octreotide (In-DTPAOC) on tumor uptake in an animal model and in a patient study. Methods: Preclinical study: After administering 111In-DTPAOC intra-venously (IV...
متن کاملRadiolocalization of monoclonal antibodies in hepatic metastases from human colon cancer in congenitally athymic mice.
Intrasplenic injection of the HT-29 LMM metastatic human colon cancer line reproducibly results in hepatic metastasis formation in congenitally athymic mice. HT-29-15, a murine monoclonal antibody (mAb) of the IgG1 class reactive with the HT-29 LMM line, and BL-3, an isotype-matched control antibody, were labeled with 125I. Labeled mAbs were injected i.v. in mice with hepatic metastases, and an...
متن کاملA novel preclinical murine model of immune-mediated metastatic dormancy
The mechanisms underlying cancer dormancy are poorly understood. We have developed a preclinical murine model in which immunosurveillance restrains spontaneous metastases in permanent dormancy. The model faithfully recapitulates human metastatic dormancy and may be useful to decipher the immune mechanisms constraining disease progression, thereby facilitating the development of novel immunother...
متن کاملNeoadjuvant interferon alfa-2b treatment in a murine model for metastatic ocular melanoma: a preliminary study.
OBJECTIVES To investigate the treatment of metastasis from uveal melanoma and to test the effect of interferon (IFN) alfa-2b in a murine model. METHODS The B16-LS9 tissue culture melanoma cells were inoculated into the posterior intraocular compartment of 3 groups of C57BL/6 mice. The inoculated eyes were enucleated at 9 days and the mice were euthanized at 26 days after inoculation; the site...
